Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series
Herrington Defends Home Turf, Grabs HTF Series Win at Cochran
Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, Ga., made full use of his home-track advantage at Cochran Motor Speedway during Saturday's Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series event with a clean sweep of the night's action.
Herrington, who entered Cochran's $10,000-to-win event tied with Joseph Joiner atop the series points standings, earned fast time honors, won his heat race, and led the final 42 laps of Saturday's 50-lap feature to earn his first HTF Series victory.
The pole-starting Herrington took the checkers 2.865 seconds ahead of fourth-starting Josh Putnam, who led laps three through eight before settling for second at the finish. Fifth-starting Dalton Cook of Columbus, Ga., was third, while sixth-starting Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla., recovered from an early mishap that dropped him from second to 16th to end up fourth. John Henderson of North Augusta, S.C., advanced 10 positions from his 15th starting spot to round out the race's top five finishers.
